Depressed but not Defeated Campaign is an initiative by Actor Comedians TaFire, Fash and Bergie Fash. As young kids who also suffered from depression they felt the need to help others. To launch the campaign we started by Tweeting the hashtag #DepressedButNotDefeated to our surprise, the hashtag has been trending from day of the launch to date. We are very happy to be young and be able to help instead of killing our peers. For more info on this you can follow our pages @defeatdepressed on Twitter and IG. Depressed but not defeated campaign on FB or email Nkuli@blaqswan.co.za Below are some of the shocking experiences that were revealed using the hashtag.
I was drugged and gang raped, institutionalised twice for major depressive disorder and lost my job in a space of 6 months. I opened a case but nothing has happened for the past 18 months.

It was only last month when I wanted to kill myself, I even felt my daughter would be better off without a depressed mom. Someone saw through Me and talked me out of it. I'm still depressed but I'm taking each day as it comes, for my daughter.

Depression Is Not
– a choice
– attention seeking
– an adjective
– Something you can "Snap out of"
– A weakness
– Funny or a joke
– "Just a phase"
– The same for everyone
– Less important than other illness cause it can't be seen#DepressedButNotDefeated

When I was in high school, I went through 2 years of therapy/counselling. My parents knew nothing about, they still don't. They would have never understood how I felt, cos in my culture there's no such thing as depression. 😢😢😢 #DepressedButNotDefeated
